Reduce, reuse, recycle - clean up ATC's!

Reuse, reduce, recycle - clean up ATC's

A few weeks ago I showed you a corner of my messy desk where I was busy using up scraps from left over projects on ATC's. Today I am showing you the results.

Reuse, reduce, recycle - clean up ATC's

These were made for a swap on Swap-Bot (clean up ATC's) which was hosted by Trinette and the objective was to create some artfully designed ATC's using scraps only. And yes, I have used scraps only to make these 6 cards, but instead of cleaning up my desk, the craps looked to multiply, LOL!

Reuse, reduce, recycle - clean up ATC's
I tried to make a triptych of each set, with a motivational saying/sentence on each card. Some of them kinda resulted in "Engrish fortune cookie wishes", ha, but it was fun to put them all together.

Reuse, reduce, recycle - clean up ATC's
Like I said, I used scraps from various projects, the Frida image is a mask I used for this project for example and I am pleasantly surprised the composition of each individual card came together like this. I also found that I like rounding off my cards with a corner punch, so it looks more like a collectible playing card.

Reuse, reduce, recycle - clean up ATC's

So hanging on to your little craps can definitely be of some use! Trinette is also hosting the swap over at her instagram (though it's on summer break for now) and on Swap-Bot so check it out over in the fall if you are interested :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Mail Art Monday: Received Swaps Feature VLVS!

Hey friends, on today's Mail Art Monday, I wanted to do something different. You have seen me reveal all the swaps I sent, but I am sure you are also wondering about the swaps I receive. Well I thought it would be fun to periodically show some fun envies I get in the mail from talented artists out there. Today I am featuring some envies I got in the mail from our Viva Las VegasGroupies swap on facebook from last month. It was a color these with grey and blue and you could only use VLVS! images.

Received this wonderful piece of #mailart from my @vivalasvegastamps DT-mate Shanna! It's super gorgeous and that banksy quote stamp is on my wishlist for sure! We have monthly swaps going on at our FB group, Viva Las Vegastamps Groupies if you want to c

This lovely envelope was made by my fellow DT member Shanna Shands.  I love the gorgeous airy feel it has and the quote stamp from Banksy is just fantastic! By the way, the fountain pen on this envelope which I used to cover my address is the Sailor Pro Gear Slim Four Seasons Haruzora Sky Blue.

Received mail art from Stuff by Belle
This envelope is sent to me by Michele Kosciolek (also our swap host of the group) and I love the circular theme she used and that vintage image on the top left corner is beautifully placed. I actually ordered this stamp as well as it's such a great image. The fountain pen I used to cover my address here is the Edison Nouveau Premier Spring edition 2017 Seaglass from Goulet Pens Co.

Thanks so much ladies fro your wonderful swaps :) Also be sure to check out our Mail Art Monday posts over at Viva Las VegaStamps! to see tutorials and join our groupies FB page to be notified for monthly swaps!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Art Journal: Enlighten we are on a spiritual journey

Art journal: spiritual journey

Today I would like to show you an experiment in my art journal using heat embossing over modeling paste. I've used the enlighten stencil from Donna Downey Studio's as my focal point in combination with this amazing Journey Collage stamp from Stampotique Originals.

I started off by prepping an A5 page with black and gold gesso from The Crafter's Workshop. Then I took my pallet knife and scraped some light and fluffy modeling paste (also from TCW)  through the stencil. I let this dry really well.

To add some color I sprayed some Dylusions sprays in yellow and red over it and some perfect pearl glimmer mist too. It gives the gesso's background also a really beautiful shimmery shine.

Art journal: spiritual journey
Sadly I don't have a in between photo of the embossed parts, because I had to work quickly but patiently not to over heat anything. I first stamped Carabelle Studio effervescence stamp and the Journey Collage stamp by Stampotique Originals with versamark and interference violet  WOW embossing powder over it. I heat set everything with my heating tool in parts making sure things didn't bubble up.  Then I took the effervescence stamp and stamped with versamark again on the corners and embossed with Opaque white embossing powder. I did the same thing with the words "we are on a spiritual journey" to emphasize that sentiment. When everything was heat set I spayed more sunshine yellow dylusions spray on the bulb and added neocolor in back for outline and shading. The word enlighten is outlines with a black posca marker. It's a gorgeous shimmery page in real life and I just love this mindful art journal page.

I would love to enter this art journal page in the following challenges:

WIP: It's all coming 'round (F* yes, we can!)

When going out for a day at the beach, the pens come out and play too 😊 These two pretties are from @woodshedpenco . . . #FPN #fountainpennetwork #fpgeeks #supportsmallbusiness #fountainpen #penaddict #stationeryaddict #papsweden #stalogy #enjoylit
This past weekend was an amazingly hot one. We needed to get out of the house and we went to the beach for a nice walk. We wound up in Katwijk aan Zee where on Sunday the parking is free. Needless to say we were not the only people with this idea! So after a bit of driving to get a parking spot, we had some nice fresh fried Kibbelingen and off to walk to Noordwijk, which is about 45 minutes of leisurely walking. There we sat ourselves down, had a beer (or two) and a Fentimans Rose Lemonade (which is AMZINGLY GOOD - T-Stands for Tuesday girls, have you tried this beverage?!)  and out came our "toys" aka pocket notebooks and fountain pens for a little play session. The above pens are made by Woodshed pen Co, the Creme Brulee I did a post on a little while ago and behold the "mojito"! A thing of beauty!! I just love that minty sea green material. See a fun video of it HERE. After a shared Pizza and dessert, we had our evening walk back to the car. My calves still hurts from all the walking, but it was an amazing day!

Some fun things you can do with stamp and die sets (these are from @stamplorations ) and old 365 #mindfulness calender from @flow_magazine - cut the images out in shapes for buntings or textures for in your artjournal like I have done 😊 . . . #craft
My work in progress for this week is this die cutting project I am doing. Which is incidentally also a question raised at the WOYWW #421 post of today over at Julia's Blog - what is your fave cutting appliance? Mine would be my under used Cuttlebug! I have a flow magazine 365 perpetual mindfulness calendar. But after having it for 5 years, I am perpetually done with it! And of course I could just not throw it away, how mindful would that be? LOL, so I took a little round stamp and die which I bought from SPAMPlorations and put it to good use. I cut out a whole bunch of different images with this fun stamp & die and worked on an art journal page.

Fuck yes, I can - art journal
Here you see the journal page in progress. It has a circular theme to it with coordinating stencils (the crafter's workshop and carabelle studio) and stamping in the molding paste. I'm sorta sad I didn't do a process video for this one because the end result looks TOTALLY different from what you see here now. So I am glad remembered to show at least one work in progress picture here.

Fuck yes, I can - art journal
This is what the background looks like with added color and texture. It's always amazing to see how much color can transform a look of things. I used dylusions paints, caran dáche oil pastels, some Dina Wakley Scribble sticks here and there, dylusions and stampotique texture stamps and black fine liner paint (those handy dandy little squeeze bottles from Dina Wakley) for the circular outlines. I was contemplating on what to put on the pages or just leave it like this. But I had something that would fit just right...

Fuck yes, I can - art journal
This little well dressed lady is cut out from a vintage fashion mag and I just loved the way she looked here. Grey tones on a colorful background, it just fit. Of course, she needed to say something. And the look she has, tell me this...

Fuck yes, I can - art journal
The sentiment is contracted from two different stamps from VLVS, Fuck Head and Yes I can. With a black border around it I called this one done :)

I would like to enter this journal page to the following challenges:

June is 'Flock of birds' with this juicy mood board

I am sure that we ladies are in it together (as a flock of birds) saying "fuck yes, WE can!"

Also wanted to mention that Dina Wakley and Ranger Ink have launched a new monthly challenge which is called "show us your MEdia" which invite artists to show their art work over at their social media with #showusyourMEdia. How I incorporate ME in my media? Well I always try to show ME in the work I am doing, a little quirkiness and humor, are always things I try to add. This spread being no exception. I don't really write in art journals but I do like to incorporate text stamps to phrase a particular sentiment I might be feeling at that point. Or to vocalize a tone the work I have done is saying. Thank for this fun new challenge Dina Wakley and team!

And with that mouthful I am wrapping things up today.
Have a great day and see you again soon :)

There is a Universe Inside - VLVS!

Hi friends! It's my turn over at the VLVS! inspiration blog and here's a sneak peak I'm sharing of a card I made. I used various lush VLVS! to make this sentiment card and some perfect pearl glimmer mist for some shimmer and shine. So head on over to my VLVS! blogpost to see the full image of the card and which stamps I used :)

Also don't forget our Monthly Challenge is still running with the Flock of Birds challenge and this gorgeous mood board

AND there are some awesome new releases out for this summer! Check them out HERE!

Mail Art Monday - Celebrate!

Hi friends, hope you all had an amazing weekend and a wonderful fathers day yesterday. It's monday so I have another fun project to share for this week's Mail Art Monday. It's a postcard from my Scrap Collage master board series. So this piece is cut from that huge master board  which I showed you a while back. This is piece 5 I think... I have been working on many at the same time so I lost track of how many pieces I made already. Anyhow, this one I had not added much to except for some color and stars. I used some white gesso over the card leaving out the Lady (which is from Carmen's Veranda) and then added some color with Marubu watersoluble crayons. I then took a yellow sharpie and scribbled in some starry texture with a STAMPlorations stencil (which I won from last month's challenge, yay!), then added some star sticker, spatters with white gesso and a black border with a Krink Marker. Love how the image of the woman just pops out.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges
LCD challenge for this month of the theme Postcards (super fun challenge and very easy, so join in the fun :)

Have an awesome Monday and thanks so much for stopping by!

Art Journal: Imagine (+ process video)

I've recently found a little Junk Mail Art journal back which a friend from Swap-Bot sent me for swap a while back. It's the perfect journal to help me get rid of left over pieces I am forever seem to be collecting! I've managed to record the process of this page and I'm doing a little flip through of the empty journal in the beginning as well.

I've used a lot of texture and spray paints for this one.

Some home made sprays with Lindy's magicals. They have such a wonderful shimmer to them!

The focal point of the page is a silhouette stamp from Visible Image and text stamp from Impression Obsession. A list of supplies is below the video...

WIP: what's on my desk?

Hey friends, ome exciting things have been going on recently (something I can't share yet, but will soon :) and my desk has been in full work in progress mess mode these past couple of weeks. Thought it might be fun to show you what I have been working on.
Om my desk right now. Am creating some "clean up" ATC's for the swap @liltrini is hosting at @swapbotnews. My desk doesn't really look 'cleaner' after using the leftovers though 😂 . . . #swap #ATC #artistsofinstagram #artisttradingcard #collage #whats
The picture above is showing a fun swap/challenge Trinette is hosting on Instagram and Swap-Bot.  It's called the "clean up ATC swaps" where you create ATC's (around 6 monthly) using only scraps and you focus on design. I REALLY enoyed this swap but it seems like the "clean up" didn't help much as I kept creating more and more scraps, haha! The end result I'll show you sometime later, but above you have a sneek peak at one of them.

Finished up some art postcards/tiles yesterday and getting ready to make some more today! Also my winnings from @stamplorations may challenge came in and am excited to use those stencils. It's #stencilsunday after all 😄 . . . #whatsonmydesk #sundaya
And this past weekend I finished up some of my scrap collage cards which was so fun to do! I used some supplies I received in my ArtSnack subscription boxes and messed around with some new stencils and other mixed media products. Also in the back the stencils you can see are the winnings I received from the Mixed Media challenge at STAMPlorations in April. I am also super excited to be the winner of last Month at the Mixed media challenge WOO HOO :)  Also I have an order coming in soon ofmore STAMPlorations items and my very long awaited Jane Davenport items... Can't wait to play with all those products when they get here :)

So, what's on your desk/what are you working on right now? I've discovered this fun blog on where people where their desk spaces on Wednesday (WOYWW) and you can join the fun as well :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Mail Art Monday: If this is reality I'm not interested

Mail Art postcards

Good morning! I am sharing a little quick and quirky postcard for today's Mail Art Monday :)
The background is made with a bit of stamping and applying paints through a few stencils. I went with primary colors and a bit of lavender to off set it. Then matted it to a bigger card stock and colored the edges with a dark teal color. The lady is a cut out from a vintage fashion mag and the phrase stamp is a gem from Viva las VegaStamps! I just love how this imagery came together.

I would like to enter this postcard in the following challenges:

Art Journal: Find your courage to journey the great unknown

Find your courage to journey the great unknown

This is an art journal page I made while experimenting with different media and techniques. The main focus was to use my new materials; paints from DecoArts Media  and Neopastels from Caran d' Ache.

Find your courage to journey the great unknown
I stared with an A5 sized advertisement flyer on which I created some texture with a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and heavy gel medium. Then I dabbed some DecoArts media traditions paints on them in Magenta, Teal and yellow. Sprayed with water to get them running and spattered some yellow on the page as well. The background was done.

Find your courage to journey the great unknown
Then I gathered some elements I wanted to use and played around with composition.

Find your courage to journey the great unknown
After I decided which elements I wanted to use, I glued them down in a composition, added some more stenciling on the right under the word journey and intensified some colors with caran d'ache neopastels. The colors I used are corresponding with the butterfly which is going to me placed over on the number at the right side.

Find your courage to journey the great unknown
Added the last few elements and created some shading in various aria's with a Stabilo Marks all pencil and a water brush.

Find your courage to journey the great unknown
The sentiment is made from various text stamps from Viva las VegaStamps!, Paper Artsy and Lost Coast Designs. I spattered some liquitex inks in magenta, teal and white over it and called it done.

Find your courage to journey the great unknown
Here's the page adhered in my black spiral bound journal. I love how vibrant the colors are! It was a fun experiment to layer layer pastels over paint and I'm definitely going to use this technique again.
