SDC283 - Anything but a card

So it's Wednesday and that means it's time for another challenge at Stampotique Designer's Challenge blog :) This week the theme is " anything but a card" and I'm sharing an Art Journal page I made to inspire you.

stampotique_anything but a card 1

Last fortnight's challenge was blue, and I could not resist but stick to that color scheme as it's my fave color, but I have popped out Topher with oranges and green. The background is done with a Prima Marketing stencil and DecoArts Media Mixed Media spray and added some texture with Kate's Texture cube. Of course I had to use the Mark Twain Quote again as it suits the photography theme.

The little camera Topher is holding is a die cut I received from a friend. It fits so well in his hands and the eye peeking through, it seems like this die cut was made for him :)

So hope this inspires you to play along with our fortnight's challenge. Check out the makes of my wonderful design team mates here and link up your projects here or on our Facebook group in the specific challenge album there.  IMPORTANT REMINDER:
Please read ALL RULES on the linkz page before linking your creation.

Remember - you can enter our challenge twice, as long as your using two different projects. :)
Twice the chance to win too.

In case you wanted to order stamps directly from Stampotique the following notice is up:

Art Journal: Embrace your ridiculous awesomeness

At Journal: supernova woman

Today I am sharing an art journal collage piece. I incorporated my love for mixed media, collage, random word poetry and fountain pens in one. And I am really happy how this art journal collage turned out.

At Journal: supernova woman

The lady is a from a vintage fashion mag and she was holding her hands in a way that I wanted her to hold flowers. Perfect time to use the little prima flowers I have been hoarding. Also the larger flowers on the piece are also from Prima which I glued on flat and drew on.

Art journal page finished. See the whole page in my stories. Used images from vintage magazines my friend @missminoes gave me and FP's from @penworldmagazine . . . #mixedmedia #artistsofinstagram #artjournalmt #artjournal #colorcoordination #vintage #col
I've used fountain pen images from PenWorld magazine, with the ledger and script rubber stamps I thought it would be a great match. The sentiment is a part from this stamp from VLVS! and it says

"She chose to embrace her ridiculous awesomeness and shine like the freaking supernova she was meant to be"

And this my dear friends I hope you all will do, for embracing your ridiculous awesome self is the best thing you can ever do!

I would like to enter this journal page in the following challenges:

It's often the case we are our own worst enemy, but I wholeheartedly encourage you to befriend yourself in the most compassionate way. So embrace your ridiculous awesomeness :)

It's been a little quiet on my blog, as you might have noticed. That is because I took a much needed break from the virtual world and was on vacation in beautiful Sweden to visit my in-laws. I could have left some scheduled posts, but decided not to because I didn't want to worry about it... and it felt sooooo good not to worry about it :) I would highly recommend that to everyone, just to take a (little) online break. So I am getting back into the groove of things, taking it slow and steady with stuff to share on the blog. And I'm starting off by telling you a little about my time away.

Sweden 2017
This was my view and we walked in the forest almost daily... and I didn't want to leave it! See HERE for more pictures. Leaving was hard but it was good to come home to my Meesha cat, as she really missed us (and we her!)

While I was away, I did make some things with a huge stash of postage stamps found in a thrift store.
Things to do while on vacay with a limited stash of supplies. Made this journal for my MIL. ________ #postagestamps #upcycle #postage #postzegels #stamps #recycle #upcycle #crafts #craftygirl #craftideas #diary #journal #DIY #makeyourown #snailmailideas #
Made this journal for my MIL with French postage stamps.

The back has different portraits on it.
My in laws have the most loveliest wooden desk, but I forgot to photograph it in its entirety. It was great to have a desk to work at while away.

TN notebook insert
This is a small Muji notebook and made for the neighbor there. It's the size of a traveler's notebook.

The postage stamp art is inspired by my good friend Sue of TangleCrafts. She sells her gorgeous collage works HERE. BONUS her books are also fountain pen ink friendly :)

Fall came to greet us while we are there and in two more days, fall will arrive here too... according to the calendar. Cozy jumpers, scarves and beautiful autumn colored (falling) leaves... I feel like I am ready for it!

Sharing this over at Julia, for WOYWW this week - hope you all are doing well and are looking forward to embrace fall as well :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Art Journal: Gordon's Eye Roll (Stampotique New Release september 2017)

september releases stampotique 5

Hey lovely friends! Today is Friday and also Word Up Weekend at Stampotique Facebook Group and I'm sharing my last make of my "new at Stampotique week" with Kassa's super cute giraffe friend, Gordon. Kassa's drawing style is always so fun and whimsical and I just love to give color to her drawings to watch them come to life! I made a mixed media background with paints stencils and modeling paste. I colored his eyes emerald and with the same color I underlined Terri's phrase "oops, did I roll my eyes out loud?" which I thought would fit the image.

Art Journal: Harry's heart speaks (Stampotique New Release september 2017)

september releases stampotique 1

Today I am sharing a fun a quick art journal page I made with a super fun newly released stamp from Stampotique Originals. It's the Harry Heart stamp from Kassa Hayselden. Isn't he just precious? I've paired him with Daniel's hearts, France's Upholstered and her when heart speaks quote stamp. Harry was colored with alcohol markers and the background done with distress oxides and watercolor paints. The edges are lined with distress crayon in shabby shutters and smudged out to the inside to create the border.

Like Harry, I hope you'll listen to your heart when it speaks :)

I would like to enter this journal page in the following challenges:

SDC281 - Background Love

stampotique_ background love 2

It's Wednesday and that means it's Stampotique challenge time. Background Love is still going strong this week and I'm sharing this journal page in hopes to inspire you to play along. I had some left over modeling paste from another project and scraped it through a brick stencil. Then sploshed some purple inks over it and built it from there. It's got a lot of texture and things going on the in the background and it's my fave way to create a background. I almost always use Textured Cube 1 in anything really. It's my building-block for a great mixed media background.

stampotique_ background love 1

I paired the Enjoy today quote with Mothloved and the accentuated the brick-theme with France's Brick Road. Those are made yellow with wink of stella shimmer pen.

While it's good to make plans for the future and live for tomorrow, I prefer to enjoy today.
Let's follow the yellow brick road to where we are in life :)

So hope you'll join in the challenge and link your background project with us here or share on Faccebook here

Thanks again for stopping by and do come back tomorrow for more Stampotique love :)

Shut the Front Door (Stampotique New Release september 2017)

september release Stampotique

Today I am sharing a fun a quick postcard I made with a super fun newly released stamp from Stampotique Originals. It's the Dog with kittens stamp from Terri Richardson and isn't is just adorable? I love how the kitties are peaking from behind him! I colored with letraset alcohol markers, cut him out and adhered the image onto a piece I had left over paint and stamped images on. That is Mash up from France Papillon. I added more color with distress crayons and the piano keys ephemera to emulate a doormat. Thought it would be fun to add "Shut the front door" phrase from Terri because I think that it's might be the litter of kitties from the neighbor's house wanting to play with ol' Rufus here, what do you think? LOL :)

Thanks for dropping by and hope you will tomorrow to see my make for this week's challenge and have a wonderful day :)

Heartfelt watercolor note cards (Stampotique New Release september 2017)

simple and sincere notecards

Today I am sharing a few watercolor cards made with some of the newly released Stampotique Originals rubber stamps. There are two beautiful flower bouquets you can make some heartfelt note cards with like I have shown above. What I did with both was emboss the flowers on watercolor paper, then make the background and color in the flowers. die cut the sentiments and piece them together. These watercolors cards are just super fun to make and didn't cost much time at all! You just let the colors work its magic. The watercolors I have worked with here is from Cloves and Honey shimmering watercolors. They just SPARKLE in real life!

september releases stampotique 7
This bouquet is designed by Terri Richardson and I love the delicate flowers together. I chose one color for the flowers to make them pop from the background. The HUGS sentiment is a die cut from Technique Tuesday. And the accolades are from an alphabet sticker set I have.

september releases stampotique 11
This bouquet, called Flos,  is designed by Kassa Hayselden and she drew them in the same style as the popular "kassa's bloom" stamp. I really love this style and also like it has the word beautiful in it. It's a whimsical design with dots and scribbles and just super fun! I paired it with an XOXO die cut from Stamplorations "cutplorations" die. First on black then inlaid the vellum cut out. The accolades are from the same set. The watercolors are just super fantastic in real life!

Don't forget to check our newest Stampotique Designer's Challenge as well. Hope this inspired you to work with watercolors and these gorgeous new flower stamps from Stampotique originals!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day :)

Art Journal: I think I just Threw up in my mouth (Stampotique New Release day!)

september releases stampotique 2

It's the 1st of the new month and that means it's New Release day at Stampotique Originals!! There are 6 new images out and I'll be showcasing them for you this coming week. I'm starting off with a design by Daniel Torrente and he is called Blackeyed. I think he's wonderfully morose looking and I have paired him up with a phrase from Terri Ridchardson from last month's release. I just love the sarcasm and witty humor the cube phrases have. Normally this phrase would be used in a negative setting, ie when someone dislikes something, but I used it in another way, like how excited are you for the new stamp releases? Yep, so excited I think I just threw up in my mouth ;)

september releases stampotique 3

Blackeyed was colored with alcohol letraset markers and fussy cut and adhered to the background. Which I made on a Distress Oxide base and stamped on with Kate's Texture Cube with my Kalaeida colors ink pad in fall colors. By the way, you can read here how I made the backgrounds with Distress Oxides.

Hope you are excited for the new releases as we are :) Come check out our facebook page where we share more images of the new releases and also check out our challenges at the Challenge blog. This fortnight's challenge is "backgrounds" and next week I'll share an inspiration for that too (but hopefully this also inspired you to make some fun backgrounds with our fun textures stamps and oxides :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
